Authorisation devices

Authorisation devices are used to perform authorisation operations, cancel authorisation and to authorise privileges.

Authorisation devices can also be used to preauthorise a card, i. e. display the information on the client account balance. This information is requested when when you enter the payment mode. In this mode, you can also configure automatic preauthorisation.

In Tillypad XL, authorisation devices can be both physical and software.

Like any other device that is used in the system, an authorisation device must be registered in the Devices directory where its parameters and formats of authorisation and authorisation voiding must be specified. This directory allows to configure how you control your authorisation devices.

When you use an authorisation device for the first time, it is automatically registered in the Authorisation devices directory. This directory contains the parameters of the physical device that are different from the parameters specified for the same device in the Devices directory.

An authorisation device is connected to the terminal on the network (for examole, POS terminal or cash register). The terminal is connected to the server that allows to carry out authorisation in real time. The authorisation device processes the information on the card, and then the terminal either accepts or denies the payment. The receipt in a predefined format is printed on the printing device.

The authorisation success and authorisation failure message formats are specified in the Devices directory for each authorisation device.

A type must be specified for each authorisation device. The Authorisation device types directory contains all the types of authorisation devices that are used in the system.

All the operations performed on authorisation devices are registered in the Authorisation operations list.
