Tillypad XL allows you to redirect a job from a temporarily unavailable device to a different device. Jobs are redirected in the event the primary device is out of order or needs to be temporarily replaced with another (backup) device. For example, if the service printer runs out of paper, while you are loading paper in the paper tray, print jobs can be redirected to another printer, a POS screen or another system device that supports the functionality of a printer.

You can set up the rules for redirecting jobs from one device to another in the Device redirection settings directory. You can set up the jobs to be redirected immediately or after a certain time period (timeout) if the job has not been executed on the main device.

The jobs are redirected from one device to another if the following conditions have been met:

  • a rule to redirect jobs from this device has been included into the Device redirection settings directory.

  • the device to which the jobs are redirected is able to execute them.
