Chapter 5. Menu

Revision History

The Menu directory contains all the goods and services that are available for sale to customers. Only items included in the Menu are available for sale on POS terminals. The system enables you to create menus to suit the specific needs of your business, be it a small cafe requiring a single catalogue or an organisation with multiple departments in need of a full menu. This structure also allows you to use a single menu in multiple outlets of a chain.

The Menu section is one of the most important sections of Tillypad XL Manager. It allows you to configure settings for menu items, menu groups, modifiers, concurrences, and price schedules. The settings allow you to determine which menu items will be offered on a certain POS terminal at a particular time.

Information contained in the Menu section is used by different sections of Tillypad XL Manager and Tillypad XL POS.

The Menu section incorporates various directories, directories to manage drafts and draft menus and operational reports for calculating purchase prices.

The Menu section incorporates the following directories:

The Menu directories should be populated with data when Tillypad XL Manager is set up. Later, changes can be made to the directories.

The directories and operational reports are opened from the Menu submenu in the program main menu.

Drafts are used to prepare a collection of changes to be applied instantaneously to the menu when necessary. Drafts can be activated automatically, at a preset time, or manually.

The following directories are used to manage drafts and draft menus:

A menu item’s own cost is calculated on the basis of the purchase prices of the stock items that are to be deducted when the menu item is sold.

The Own cost operational report shows at what prices stock items have been entered into the store. The operational report can be displayed for all menu items sold across selected store groups ( Menu item own cost by store group ) or for selected menu items sold in all store groups ( Menu item own cost by menu item ).
