Promotion categories are features that promote customer loyalty. Promotion categories can be used to change standard service conditions depending on various factors, e.g. client type, day of the week, time of day, special event, etc.

Promotion categories define all discounts and markups on clients’ orders. Promotion categories are used to set limits for order value, define tips etc.

Discounts and markups are applied to guest tabs with promotion categories. Multiple promotion categories can be applied simultaneously to the same guest tab. In Tillypad XL POS calculations are performed automatically at the point of order submission, while in Tillypad XL Manager calculations are performed manually using the Recalculate promotion command.

You may choose and configure any type of promotion category. Promotion categories can be applied to:

  • a specific guest tab;

  • a specific order or order item;

  • a division (i.e. all guest tabs of a specific division);

  • a table, (i.e. all guest tabs opened on that table);

  • a regular customer of your enterprise or a regular customer of an external system (i.e. all guest tabs opened for that customer).

A guest tab limit applies if it is set for either the division or the main promotion category of the guest tab. (The promotion category specified in the guest tab header is considered to be the principal promotion category. It can be either the guest tab promotion category or the client promotion category applied to the guest tab). The limit set for the promotion category has priority over the division limit.

The Promotion categories directory is used to manage promotion categories applied at your company’s service points.
