Segments

The segment is the primary organisational unit of Tillypad XL. In the entry-level configuration, the segment includes one workplace with Tillypad XL POS and one workplace with Tillypad XL Manager. Two or more segments can be joined into a domain.

System parameters and segment settings are configured in the Segments directory.

You can enter subscriptions to objects of the segment, i.e. you can receive data updates during replication. Basic data is replicated automatically. Subscriptions are entered if data from document lists need to be replicated for the selected date range.

The context help guide is a useful tool when working with Tillypad XL Manager. It can give you an overview of Tillypad XL’s features. To be able to open the context help guide from any working window of the program, you need to specify the access path to the help file for the segment.

The segment server controls the segment database. All program copies run on different workstations in the segment refer to this database. Ports are used to connect to the segment database and the help system server. The ports in use and their numbers are added to the specifications of the segment ports. The Segments directory must have information about at least one port that ensures the connection with the database.

A single procedure for cost price calculation, stock item purchase price calculation, and sales record processing is established for each segment.
