Stock limits

Stock limits

Stock limits define the minimum, maximum, and optimal levels of stock items to be held in the store.

Using stock limits makes it easy to determine what quantities of stock items should be ordered from suppliers or from other stores in the system.

Stock limits are used to manage inventories within your enterprise. They help to maintain the necessary stock levels and avoid stock shortages and excesses, which in turn helps to avoid wastage of goods with limited shelf lives.

For stock items that are used regularly, you can also set standard daily consumption rates. Standard daily consumption values are used to populate original planned requests and planned supplier requests.

An estimated standard daily consumption rate is calculated based on the stock-out documents (stock-out records, stock adjustment records, etc.) that were created for a selected store during a specified period. For each store, you can select which stock-out document types will be taken into account when the average daily consumption rate is calculated.

Stock limits are managed in the Stock limits settings directory.
