Menu item IDs allow the user to select menu items on the POS terminal using IDs such as barcodes. When item IDs are in place, it is possible to add menu items to orders using ID readers.

Menu item IDs are not included in the IDs directory; rather, they are directly assigned to the menu items listed in the Menu directory.

The IDs panel displays a list of all IDs assigned to a menu item.

The IDs panel is composed of a single field:

  • Inherit IDs is an attribute, which indicates whether IDs should be set to inherited menu items. This is a required field.

The field is only available in the windows of menu items that were created on the basis of other items (items for which the Based on field in the Properties panel is completed).

You can choose between Yes and No. If Yes is selected, all the IDs assigned to the baseline menu item are added automatically to the specification of the inherited menu item. If No is chosen, the IDs will not be assigned to the inherited item.

The IDs panel data grid is composed of the following columns:

  • Menu item denotes the menu item to which the ID is applied.

This value is used to determine which item the ID applies to when several items are selected.

  • Number of portions is the number of portions of the menu item that the ID represents.

  • Quantity indicates the quantity of the menu item associated with the ID.

  • Unit (menu) is the unit of measurement used to keep records of the menu item quantity.

  • Code is an ID code or mask.

  • Type denotes the ID type.

  • Mask is an attribute to indicate whether or not an ID mask is applied.

  • Comment is a short comment.

The panel context menu contains the following commands:

  • Add (Ins) – adds an ID for the menu item.

  • Edit (F2) – edits selected menu item IDs.

  • Delete (Del) – permanently deletes IDs assigned to the menu item.

  • Print (Ctrl+P) – generates print layouts.

  • Summary functions – menu with the commands to manage the summary functions of the data grid.

  • Additional functions – menu with the commands to operate the data grid.

The New menu item ID window is used to add a new ID to the menu item. Attributes of selected IDs can be altered using the Menu item ID and Menu item IDs editor windows.

The confirm permanent deletion prompt appears when you delete menu item IDs.
