Note types directory

Notes allow you to add fields and specification data grids to object windows (directory items and groups). The Note types directory is used to manage note types.

Data grid columns:

  • Name indicates the name of the note type.

  • Data type denotes the type of the data entered in the note field of an object window.

  • Description is a brief text description of the note type.

  • Unique shows whether a note of this type is unique.

  • Inactive shows whether a note of this type is temporarily disabled.

  • Required shows whether a note of this type is required.

  • Directory is the directory from which data is entered into the note selection boxes in object windows.

  • Index designates the sequence in which notes apply.

  • Header is the header of the note field as it appears in object windows.

  • Panel header is the panel header for a note as it appears in object windows.

  • Security level indicates the security level assigned to the type.

  • System is a tag identifying system objects.

The directory context menu contains the following commands to create, edit, and delete note types:

  • Add (Ins) – adds a new note type to the directory.

  • Edit (F2) – edits note types.

  • Delete (Del) – deletes note types from the directory to the Recycle bin.

  • Export – menu with the commands to export files into an external file or update package.

  • Clipboard – menu with the commands to operate the clipboard.

  • Print (Ctrl+P) – generates print layouts.

  • Summary functions – menu with the commands to manage the summary functions of the data grid.

  • Additional functions – menu with the commands to operate the data grid.

To add new items to the directory, use the New note type and New note types entry windows. Attributes of selected note types can be edited using the Note type or Note types editor windows.

When you delete note types from the directory, a confirmation prompt appears.

To select a directory, the items or groups of which can serve as values for notes, use the Select directory window.
