Example of settings

This section will offer an example setup for a cafe or small restaurant. The chosen set of devices reflects a typical set for this type of venue. This allows the reader to view a characteristic setup of customer service operations: taking orders with ticket printing for the kitchen, payment using cash and bank cards, fiscal registration of payments, regular customer authorisation, etc.

Two POS terminals are in use at the restaurant: the bartender's POS and the waiter's POS.

The following devices are installed on the bar POS terminal:

  • Bartender-cashier POS terminal (Bar POS) with an ID reader and a regular customer authorisation device:

    • Magnetic card reader (Bar MC reader),

    • Regular customer authorisation device (Bar customer authorisation).

  • Bank card authorisation device (Bank card authorisation) with PIN pad:

    • Bank card reader (PIN pad),

  • Fiscal register (Bar FR).

  • Bar ticket printer (Bar printer).

The following devices are installed on the waiter's point of sale:

  • Waiter's POS terminal (Waiter POS) with ID reader:

    • Magnetic card reader (Waiter's MC reader),

  • Kitchen ticket printer (Kitchen printer).

Both points of sale are included into one division (Restaurant Peter I). These POS terminals receive information from the database (connected via the network to the database server) and are connected to the network of devices in this division.

The Manual program contains the connection order and settings for the devices, as well as the filled-in directories of Tillypad XL Manager necessary to the operation of the POS terminals.
