Update packages directory

The Update packages directory is used to manage update packages, i.e. sets of objects that can be replaced with their newer versions in the system without updating the entire database.

Location of the directory: AdvancedDirectoriesUpdate packages.

Data grid fields:

  • Name is the name of the update package.

  • Description is a description of the update package.

  • Security level denotes the security level assigned to the update package.

  • Export date is the date when the update package was uploaded to an external file last time. This field is populated automatically by the system.

  • Date applied is the date when the update package was imported from the external file. This field is populated automatically by the system.

    After the update package has been imported from the external file, it becomes read-only. You cannot delete it from the directory.

  • System is a tag identifying system objects.

The context menu of the directory contains the following commands:

  • Add (Ins) – adds a new update package.

  • Edit/View (F2) – edits or displays attributes of the existing update packages.

    The Edit command is available when the selected update packages have not been applied, whereas the View command is available when at least one selected update package has been applied.

  • Delete (Del) – deletes update packages to the Recycle bin.

  • Export – menu with the commands to export files into an external file or update package.

  • Clipboard – menu with the commands to operate the clipboard.

  • Print (Ctrl+P) – generates print layouts.

  • Summary functions – menu with the commands to manage the summary functions of the data grid.

  • Additional functions – menu with the commands to operate the data grid.

To create new update packages, use the New update package and New update packages entry windows. To edit attributes of update packages, use the Update package or Update packages editor windows. To view attributes of update packages imported from external files use the Update package or Update packages viewing windows.

To select update packages, use the Select update package window.

When removing update packages from the Update packages directory, a confirmation prompt appears.
