The window is composed of the following fields:

  • Menu item indicates the name of the draft menu item that the ID is assigned to. This is a required field.

The field shows the name of the draft menu item from the Name field of the Properties panel.

The menu item selected using its ID will be added to an order specification.

Once the draft has been activated, the draft menu item selected using its ID will be applied to the order specification.

  • Number of portions is the number of portions of the menu item that the ID represents.

If the menu item's sales parameter allows the number of portions to be edited, this number will appear by default in the order specification or in the menu item editor window when the ID is entered.

  • Quantity denotes the quantity of the draft menu item that the ID represents.

If the menu item's sales parameters allow its quantity to be edited, this quantity will appear by default in the menu item editor window or in the order specification when the ID is entered.

  • Unit (menu) is the unit of measurement used for the draft menu item.

For convenience, the field name is not displayed. This field is read-only.

The field displays the name of the menu unit of measurement specified in the Properties panel.

The menu unit of measurement is shown in orders, bills, receipts, and various reports.

The quantity of the menu item that the ID represents and the quantity of the menu item itself are expressed in the same units of measurement. This field is read-only; no other unit of measurement can be selected.

After the draft is activated, this menu unit of measurement will be shown in orders, bills, and receipts, as well as in various reports.

  • Code is an ID code or ID mask to compare to the ID code. This is a required field.

If No is selected in the Mask field, the code is a unique ID. If Yes is selected, the code will serve as an ID mask to compare to the entered value.

Different ID codes can be used to uniquely identify different variations of the same menu item.

For example, when selling draught beer under the menu item Home brew, you can create separate IDs to sell a pint or a pitcher.

  • Type is the ID type. This is a required field.

You can select this value in the Select ID type window.

The most common ID types are included as system objects, which are read-only elements. Other types can be added as needed.

  • Mask is an attribute to indicate whether or not the ID mask is applied. This is a required field.

You can choose one of the following options: Yes and No.

An ID mask is used for menu items of the same type that are added to an order as one item. For example, Bottled juices could cover Bottled orange juice, Bottled tomato juice, etc.

  • Comment is a short comment.

Text comments provide a more detailed description of the ID. For example, in a text comment, you might specify the order in which the ID will be used in the system.

Click OK to save data. Selecting Cancel will close the window without saving data.

When two or more menu item IDs are selected for editing, the multiple menu item ID editor window will open. A panel displaying the selected menu item IDs is added to the editor window, and the title in the window header changes to Menu item IDs.

The fields are similar to those in the Draft menu item ID editor window.

You can open the Draft menu item IDs entry window by using the Add command. From there, you can add a new ID to the draft menu item specification.
