Tillypad XL allows you to redirect a job from a temporarily unavailable device to a different device. Jobs are redirected in the event the primary device is out of order or needs to be temporarily replaced with another (backup) device. For example, if the service printer runs out of paper, until you load more paper into tray, print jobs can be redirected to another printer, a POS screen or another system device that supports the printer functionality.

You can set up the rules for redirecting jobs from one device to another in the Device redirection settings directory. You can set up jobs to be redirected immediately or after a certain time period (timeout) if they have not been executed on the main device.

The jobs are redirected from one device to another if the following conditions have been met:

  • a rule for redirecting jobs from this device has been included into the Device redirection settings directory.

  • the device to which the jobs are redirected is able to execute them.
