In the interest of attracting new customers or incentivising regular customers, restaurant owners can offer guests discounts or gifts with their purchases. Tillypad XL includes a function that allows venues to use a diverse set of programmes to incentivise customer loyalty. This feature lets restaurants offer discounts as a fixed amount or percent of the order total, or as bonus items or services. The opposite situation, in which during a designated time period—for example, late in the evening—markups are added to certain items, is also possible.

Discounts are configured in Tillypad XL Manager, but they can only be granted in Tillypad XL POS.

When a regular customer loyalty programme is created, a promotion category, promotion type, day type setting, and sales rule all must be added to the system.

The promotion category is a unique characteristic on which the customer loyalty programme is based. It is assigned to the guest tab, order, or order item to which the discount will apply. Promotion categories can be assigned either manually or automatically. For example, if the promotion category is assigned to the division, it will apply to all of the guest tabs created in that division. If the promotion category is assigned to a regular customer, it will apply to all of his/her guest tabs.

Promotion types are used to establish the discount amount and select the menu items to which the discount will apply. The discount amount is calculated with the help of a promotion formula. Promotion formulas contain an SQL query, which allows the user to utilise not only fixed-amount discounts, but also discounts that change in size depending on different conditions.

Day type settings are used to offer discounts on particular days of the week, specific dates, or particular times during the day.

Sales rules establish the connection between promotion categories, promotion types, and day types, as well as the period during which the promotion will be in effect.

Discount settings

Suppose you need to set up a 25% discount for fresh carrot juice. The discount must be provided to all customers served in the Restaurant Peter I division from 12:00 to 16:00 on weekdays.

A system promotion formula is used to calculate the value of the discount.
