The Layout panel is used to create and edit the screen form layout.

The panel is composed of one field where you can place schematic images of buttons and screen form control elements.

The panel context menu contains the following commands:

  • Editing mode – enables/disables screen form layout editing mode.

    If the panel is currently not in the editing mode, the Editing mode command will allow you to make changes to the screen form layout.

    However, if the panel is already in editing mode, the Editing mode command will prevent you from editing the screen form layout.

  • Add screen form element (Shift+Ctrl+Ins) – adds an element to the screen form layout.

    The command is only available in the editing mode.

  • Add button (Ins) – adds a button to the screen form layout.

    The command is only available in the editing mode.

  • Edit (F2) – edits attributes of a button or of a screen form element.

    The command becomes available when you select one or more buttons or one or more screen form elements on the layout. The layout editing mode must be disabled.

  • Delete (Del) – deletes buttons or other screen form elements from the screen form layout.

    The command is only available in the editing mode when one or more button images or other screen form element images have been selected.

  • Edit is a menu containing commands to cancel or repeat operations on buttons or other screen form elements. It also contains commands to operate the clipboard.

    These menu commands are only available in the layout editing mode when one or more button images or screen form element images have been selected.

    • Undo (Ctrl+Z) – cancels the previous operation.

    • Redo (Shift+Ctrl+Z) – repeats the previous operation.

    • Cut (Ctrl+X) – cuts screen form elements or buttons to the clipboard.

    • Copy (Ctrl+C) – copies screen form elements or buttons to the clipboard.

    • Paste (Ctrl+V) – pastes screen form elements or buttons from the clipboard.

  • Alignment is a menu containing commands to align screen form elements or buttons with one another on the layout.

    These menu commands are only available in the layout editing mode when one or more button images or screen form element images have been selected.

    • Left edges – aligns screen form elements or buttons along their left edges.

    • Align bottom – aligns screen form elements or buttons along their bottom edges.

    • Right edges – aligns screen form elements or buttons along their right edges.

    • Align top – aligns screen form elements or buttons along their top edges.

  • Spaces is a menu containing commands to group together screen form elements or buttons on the screen form layout.

    These menu commands are only available in the screen form layout editing mode when one or more button images or screen form element images have been selected.

    • Even out horizontal spaces – aligns horizontal spaces between screen form elements or buttons.

    • Even out vertical spaces – aligns vertical spaces between screen form elements or buttons.

    • Minimize horizontal spaces – minimizes horizontal spaces between screen form elements or buttons.

    • Minimize vertical spaces – minimizes vertical spaces between screen form elements or buttons.

To add a button to the screen form layout, use the New button entry window. You can edit button attributes in the Button and Buttons editor windows.

Adding a screen form element will open the New screen form element window. To edit attributes of screen form elements, use the Screen form element and Screen form elements editor windows.
