Adding items to orders

When you add the first menu item to the guest tab, a new order is created.

Select an item in the menu data grid.

Additional information

You can also add an order in the following ways:

  • press the key to select a menu item on the keyboard connected to the POS terminal.

  • select an item by entering its ID (for example, by reading its barcode).

  • enter the selection code of the menu item (specified in the Menu directory).

The item will be added to the order immediately or after the fields have been filled out in the editor window. The fields are determined by the sales parameter of this menu item.

Note

If a menu item’s sales parameter contains at least one query attribute, an editor window will open when the item is added to an order.

If necessary, change the parameter values using the numeric keypad.

Note

Required fields are populated with default values. Read-only fields are blue grey.

Press OK or Enter. This will add the item to the order and close the editor window. The required amount due will appear on the amount panel.

Pressing Cancel will close the editor window without adding the item to the order.

Additional information

If a menu item has a variable Quantity parameter specified for it, and the POS terminal is connected to a scale, the quantity of this menu item can be entered by weighing it. Quantity is used very broadly here, designating weight, volume, or the actual number of items.

If a menu item has a modifier, you will need to choose its modifier items when adding it to an order.

The editor window will have the following appearance:

If necessary, change the parameter values using the numeric keypad. Select items from the required modifier group specification.

If all elements have been selected correctly, the item with the modifier will be added to the order.

Pressing Cancel will close the editor window without adding the item to the order.

The item will be added to the order after you press OK or after you have filled in all required fields. Items can be added to the order automatically of the AllowAutoCloseEditor parameter is set to True
