Add menu item to the order

To add an item to the order, select this item from the menu data grid.

Additional information

There are also the following ways to add items to the order:

  • press the corresponding key on the keyboard connected to the POS terminal (if this key is assigned the function to select a given menu item);

  • enter the ID of the menu item (for example, by scanning its barcode);

  • enter the selection code (if the menu item is assigned a selection code).

The item will be added to the order immediately or after the fields will have been filled out in the editor window. The fields are determined by the sales parameter of this menu item.

Note

The editor window will open if the sales parameter of this menu item has at least one query attribute when the item is added to the order.

If necessary, change the parameter values using the numeric keypad.

Note

Required fields are populated with default values. Read-only fields are highlighted with grey colour.

Press OK or Enter. This will add the item to the order and close the editor window. The required payment amount will appear on the amount panel.

To close the editor window without adding the item to the order, press Cancel.

Additional information

If the menu item has the variable parameter Quantity specified for it, and the POS terminal is connected to a scale, the quantity of this menu item can be entered by weighing. Quantity is used as a wide term here, which can be used to designate weight, volume, or the actual number of items.

If the menu item has a modifier specified for it, you will be asked to choose items of this modifier when adding the menu item to the order. You will need to select all required items from the modifier specification groups. If you wish, you can also add optional items to the order specification.

When you add a menu item with a modifier to the order, the editor window appears as following:

If necessary, change the parameter values using the numeric keypad. Select items from the required modifier group specification. To go back and forth between modifier specification items, use the Next > and < Back buttons.

If all elements have been selected correctly, the item with the modifier will be added to the order.

To close the editor window without adding the item to the order, press Cancel.

Additional information

The item will be added to the order when you press OK in the editor window or immediately after you fill out all required fields. This is determined by the operating mode parameter AllowAutoCloseEditor (the default value is True, i.e. when all fields are filled out, the item is added to the order, and the editor window closes).

After adding all necessary menu items to the order, make sure you save it.

To save the order and go to payment, you need to submit the order.

If you need to put a guest tab on hold, you can save the order without submitting it. To save an order that is not ready yet (order draft), press Cancel in the Enter order screen. A confirmation window will open prompting you to save your changes. Press the Save button to do so.
