Substitutes panel in the Stock item window

The Substitutes panel is displayed when Yes is selected in the Substitutes field of the Properties panel.

The Substitutes panel is used to specify items to replace the given stock item in sales record specifications. For example, vegetable soup may include the Canned green peas stock item. However, if necessary, you can replace this item with other items such as Fresh green peas or Fresh frozen green peas.

The Substitutes panel contains a list of stock items that can replace missing stock items in sales record specifications.

The Substitutes panel is composed of the following fields:

  • Quantity indicates the quantity of the main stock item that is replaced by the specified amounts of substitute stock items. This is a required field.

  • Unit (stock item) is the unit of measurement for the stock item. For convenience, the name of this field is not displayed in the window. This is a required field.

    Please select a unit in the Select stock item unit of measurement window. By default, this field contains the value defined for this stock item in the Stock items directory.

Data grid columns:

  • Stock item is the substitute stock item in the sales record specification.

  • Unit (stock item) denotes the unit of measurement for stock item's quantity.

  • Quantity is the quantity of the substitute stock item that replaces the specified quantity of the original stock item in the Quantity field of the Substitutes panel.

  • Index shows the order in which substitute stock items are used.

  • Comment is a short text comment.

  • Replacement for designates the stock item that the substitute replaces.

  • Type is the stock item type of the substitute stock item.

  • Category indicates the stock item category of the substitute stock item.

  • Stock item group indicates the stock item group to which the stock item belongs.

  • Class is the class to which the stock item belongs.

The specification context menu contains the following commands:

  • Add (Ins) – adds a new substitute stock item to the stock item's specification.

  • Edit (F2) – edits the selected substitute stock items.

  • Delete (Del) – deletes the selected substitute stock items.

  • Properties – opens the editor window for the selected stock item(s).

  • Stock movement – displays an operational report on movement of the selected stock items.

  • Stock item turnover – opens an operational report on stock turnover of the selected stock items.

  • Purchase price – opens an operational report on purchase prices of the selected stock items.

  • Clipboard – menu with the commands to operate the clipboard.

  • Print (Ctrl+P) – generates print layouts.

  • Summary functions – menu with the commands to manage the summary functions of the data grid.

  • Additional functions – menu with the commands to operate the data grid.

The New substitute stock item and New substitute stock items entry windows are used to add new substitute stock items to the directory. The Substitute stock item and Substitute stock items editor windows are used to change parameters of substitute stock items.

The confirm permanent deletion prompt appears when you delete substitute stock items.

The stock item substitutes specification appears on the Substitutes panel in the Substitute for recipe item window if the stock item is added to the recipe of another compound stock item and the substitution specification of this compound stock item is not filled out.
