To use the keyboard of a certain device to enter information in the Tillypad XL system, you need to specify the functions that will be carried out when you press certain keys. A keyboard layout is the tool used to assign functions to keyboard keys.
A layout is set for a certain format, i.e. for the description of the relative positions of keys defined in the software module. This way, one keyboard format can have different layouts (e.g. they might be adapted for the specific work of each division). Each of these layouts can then be used by a device.
Keys can be assigned standard functions, such as navigation buttons or a numeric keypad, as well as additional functions. The latter include:
selecting a menu group,
selecting a menu item,
selecting a payment method or a denomination,
selecting a seating layout,
executing shortcut actions (pre-defined operations or their sequences),
special functions (confirm selection, cancel, etc.),
selecting a report,
selecting a promotion category,
selecting a screen form.
