The segment is the primary organisational unit of Tillypad XL. In the entry-level configuration, the segment includes one workplace with Tillypad XL POS and one workplace with Tillypad XL Manager. Two or more segments can be joined into a domain. Data replication is carried out between segments of one domain.

Domains, system parameters, segments, and segment settings are configured in the Segments directory.

The segment server controls the segment database. All program copies run on different workstations in the segment refer to this database. Ports are used to connect to the segment database and the help system server. The ports in use and their numbers are added to the specifications of the segment ports. The Segments directory must have information about at least one port that ensures the connection with the database.

A single procedure for cost price calculation, stock item purchase price calculation, and sales record processing is established for each segment.

To be able to open the context help guide from any working window of Tillypad XL Manager, you need to specify the access path to the help file in the segment settings. The context help can give you an overview of the Tillypad XL system. It also contains information about the Tillypad XL POS program and the Tillydroid application.
