For each segment of the Tillypad XL system, you must define values for main attributes (i.e. those used by all programs). These attributes are known as system segment settings. They include the language pack used in the segment, the format and precision of currency units, the multilingual data input option, a promotion rounding mode for sales, a cumulative menu item, and a value added tax rate (VAT) to be used as the default in store documents. These settings are stored in the System settings directory.

This directory also includes system format settings used to set stock item characteristics. The formats specified in the system settings are used in the Stock items directory when entering the nutritional and energy values of stock items (proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and calories), as well as their weights.

A primary security level is also defined in this directory. This level will be inherited by all objects and object groups that do not have a separate security level specified for them.

The directory allows you to configure panel fields for customer address input.
