Menu directory

The Menu directory is designed for managing all menu items in the system. The directory contains information on all modifiers and all menu items which can be offered to customers.

Location of the directory: MenuMenu.

Menu items are contained in menu groups.

A tree list with menu groups, menu items, and modifiers is displayed in the window. Only menu groups can be root elements in the table; other menu groups, menu items, and modifiers can be subordinate elements of these menu groups.

Data grid columns:

  • Name indicates the full name of the menu group, menu item, or modifier.

  • Short name is a short name of the menu item; this short name can be displayed on the POS terminal instead of the item's full name.

  • SKU denotes the article number for the menu item.

  • Description is a description of the menu item.

  • Price is the price for the specified quantity of the menu item.

  • Quantity is the menu item amount expressed in menu units of measurement.

  • Unit (menu) indicates the unit of measurement used for the menu item.

  • Type designates the menu type that the menu item belongs to.

  • Picture is the picture used to illustrate the item, allowing easy selection in the terminal menu.

  • Concurrence is the name of the concurrence with which the menu item is associated.

  • On-screen button format denotes the button format used to select the menu item in the POS terminal menu.

  • Modifier is the modifier associated with the menu item.

  • Selection code is a code for quick selection of the menu item in the POS terminal menu.

  • Sales parameter denotes the sales parameters that will be applied when the menu item is added to an order or changes are made to the order.

  • Index indicates a numerical value that determines the position of the item in the menu.

  • Stock item is the name of the stock item that is associated with the menu item and deducted from the store when the menu item is sold.

  • Quantity (stock item) is the quantity of the stock item expressed in preset stock item units of measurement; this quantity is deducted from the store when the menu item is sold.

    The stock item is deducted from the store according to the values specified in the Quantity (stock item) and Quantity (menu) fields.

  • Quantity (menu) is the quantity of the menu item in preset menu units of measurement; this value corresponds to the quantity of the stock item to be deducted from the store.

  • Unit (stock item) is the unit of measurement for the stock item deducted from the store when the menu item is sold.

  • Table denotes the table specified for the menu item (or for the timed service).

  • Ad hoc recipe designates an attribute to specify whether to query menu item parameters in order to calculate the required quantities of the associated stock items.

  • Photograph file name is the file name of the menu item photograph.

  • Class is the name of the class with which the menu item is associated.

  • Based on is the original menu item used as the basis for creating this menu item.

  • Shortcut is an attribute to indicate that the menu item is used as a shortcut.

  • VAT % shows the rate of value added tax (VAT) applied to the menu item.

  • Security level indicates the security level assigned to the menu item or modifier.

  • Unused credits refundable is an attribute to show whether or not unused credits will be paid back to a customer.

  • Menu item quantity is the quantity value of the menu item that belongs to the timed services.

  • Time is the time interval that corresponds to the quantity of the menu item, which belongs to timed services. The duration of the service expressed in minutes corresponds to the specified menu item's quantity.

  • Exclude from sale denotes temporary removal of the menu item or group from sale.

  • System is a tag identifying system objects.

The context menu contains the following commands:

  • Add (Ins) – adds a new menu item.

  • Add group (Alt+Ins) – adds a new menu group.

  • Add modifier (Shift+Ctrl+Ins) – adds a modifier for menu items.

  • Create based on – creates a new menu group or menu item on the basis of another menu group or menu item, respectively.

    This command is only available when one menu item or one menu group is selected.

  • Edit (F2) – edits selected menu items, menu groups, or modifiers.

    When multiple entries are selected, this command is only available if they are of the same type (menu items, menu groups, or modifiers).

  • Delete (Del) – deletes menu items, groups, and modifiers to the Recycle bin.

  • Recalculate – prompts recalculation of the sales records that contain the selected menu items.

    This command is only available when one or more menu items are selected.

  • Own cost – displays the purchase prices of the selected menu items.

    This command is only available when one or more menu items are selected.

  • Export – menu with the commands to export files into an external file or update package.

  • Clipboard – menu with the commands to operate the clipboard.

  • Print (Ctrl+P) – generates print layouts.

  • Summary functions – menu with the commands to manage the summary functions of the data grid.

  • Filter by groupfilters by group (for directories with groups).

  • Additional functions – menu with the commands to operate the data grid.

The New menu item and New menu items entry windows are used for adding new menu items. Attributes of selected menu items can be altered using the Menu item or Menu items editor windows.

To add new menu groups into the directory, use the New menu group and New menu groups entry windows. Attributes of selected menu groups can be altered using the Menu group and Menu groups editor windows.

In order to add new modifiers into the directory, use the New modifier and New modifiers entry windows. Attributes of selected groups can be altered using the Modifier and Modifiers editor windows.

When you paste menu items and groups from the clipboard to the Menu directory, the Select paste mode window opens.

When you delete menu items, menu groups, or modifiers, the confirmation prompt appears.

The Select menu item window is used to select menu items from other lists and windows of other directories. The Select menu group window is used for selecting menu groups. Modifiers are selected in the Select modifiers window.
